Prof. Dr. Michael Frede
Professor of the History of Philosophy, Oxford University
Prof. Michael Frede
is recognized as one of the most distinguished experts in ancient philosophy
in the world. He earned his Ph.D. at Göttingen in 1966 and held the post
of Wissenschaftlicher Assistent there from 1966 to 1971. Prof. Frede taught
in the Department of Philosophy at Berkeley till 1976. In 1976, he left Berkeley
to teach at Princeton; he returned to Europe in 1991 to take the chair in
the History of Philosophy at Oxford University, Keble College.
Prof. Frede is a member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of
the British Academy, and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
